Food Program
A big part of Hope House Ministries (HHM) mission to improve our community is combating hunger. One of the most innovative, nutritious, and people empowering ways HHM does this is via the Angel Food Ministries (AFM) program. What is AFM program? Our AFM program is a part of the Angel Food Ministries, founded in 1994 in Monroe, Georgia. This ministry provides grocery relief and financial support to communities throughout the United States.
How does it work?
A person can purchase a basic box for $25.00 that consists of $70.00 worth of food items. A box from Angel Food Ministries consists of enough food to feed a family of four for about a week or a senior citizen for almost a month. A family also has the option to add-on special boxes consisting of a combination of food for $18.00. These food boxes are a great value for everyone but especially for those on a restricted budget.
So far in 2007, our AFM program has provided 450 basic boxes and 250 special boxes to our community. Thanks in large to the efforts of our dedicated volunteer staff, three local Churches have joined HHM in the Angel Food Program.
If you or someone you know are interested in or could benefit from the AFM program, please contact our Angel Food coordinators, Walter and Ella Marsh. They can be reached at (210) 590-3205. To get more information on Angel Food Ministries log on to their website at www.angelfoodministries.com.
